Availability and spatial variability of copper, iron, manganese and zinc in soils of the State of Ceará, Brazil Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Oliveira,Mara Lucia Jacinto; Valladares,Gustavo Souza; Vieira,Johnston Silva; Coelho,Ricardo Marques.
ABSTRACT The aim of the present work was to: (i) determine and map the micronutrient content (copper - Cu, iron - Fe, manganese - Mn and zinc - Zn) in soils of the State of Ceará; (ii) evaluate soil attributes related to micronutrient availability; and (iii) evaluate, by ordinary kriging, the spatial dependence of the micronutrient content. The study area is located in the central region of Ceará, in the basin of the River Banabuiú. Soil samples were collected in the surface and subsurface layers to determine the chemical attributes, granulometry, and micronutrient content, extracted with Mehlich-1 solution. The sites of the principal types of soil in the region were spatialised and the results submitted to descriptive analysis and Pearson correlation...

Geostatistical Approach for Spatial Interpolation of Meteorological Data Anais da ABC (AABC)
OZTURK,DERYA; KILIC,FATMAGUL.
ABSTRACT Meteorological data are used in many studies, especially in planning, disaster management, water resources management, hydrology, agriculture and environment. Analyzing changes in meteorological variables is very important to understand a climate system and minimize the adverse effects of the climate changes. One of the main issues in meteorological analysis is the interpolation of spatial data. In recent years, with the developments in Geographical Information System (GIS) technology, the statistical methods have been integrated with GIS and geostatistical methods have constituted a strong alternative to deterministic methods in the interpolation and analysis of the spatial data. In this study; spatial distribution of precipitation and...

Positioning of sensors for control of ventilation systems in broiler houses: a case study Scientia Agricola
Curi,Thayla Morandi Ridolfi de Carvalho; Conti,Dante; Vercellino,Rimena do Amaral; Massari,Juliana Maria; Moura,Daniella Jorge de; Souza,Zigomar Menezes de; Montanari,Rafael.
ABSTRACT Ventilation systems are incorporated at intensive poultry farms to control environment conditions and thermal comfort of broilers. The ventilation system operates based on environmental data, particularly measured by sensors of temperature and relative humidity. Sensors are placed at different positions of the facility. Quality, number and positioning of the sensors are critical factors to achieve an efficient performance of the system. For this reason, a strategic positioning of the sensors associated to controllers could support the maintenance and management of the microclimate inside the facility. This research aims to identify the three most representative points for the positioning of sensors in order to support the ventilation system during...

Spatial dependency and correlation of properties of soil cultivated with oil palm, Elaeis guineensis, in agroforestry systems in the eastern Brazilian Amazon Acta Amazonica
SILVA,Camila Santos da; MENDONÇA,Bruno Araujo Furtado de; PEREIRA,Marcos Gervasio; ARAÚJO,Emanuel José Gomes de; CASTELLANI,Débora Christina.
ABSTRACT Geostatistics is a tool that can be used to produce maps with the distribution of nutrients essential for the development of plants. Therefore, the present study aimed to analyze the spatial variation in chemical attributes of soils under oil palm cultivation in agroforestry systems in the eastern Brazilian Amazon, and their spatial dependence pattern. Sixty spatially standardized and georeferenced soil samples were collected at each of three sampling sites (DU1, DU2, and DU3) at 0-20 cm depth. Evaluated soil chemical attributes were pH, Al3+, H+Al, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, cation exchange capacity (CEC), P, and organic matter (OM). The spatial dependence of these variables was evaluated with a semivariogram analysis, adjusting three theoretical models...

Spatial prediction of soil properties in two contrasting physiographic regions in Brazil Scientia Agricola
Menezes,Michele Duarte de; Silva,Sérgio Henrique Godinho; Mello,Carlos Rogério de; Owens,Phillip Ray; Curi,Nilton.
ABSTRACT This study compared the performance of ordinary kriging (OK) and regression kriging (RK) to predict soil physical-chemical properties in topsoil (0-15 cm). Mean prediction of error and root mean square of prediction error were used to assess the prediction methods. Two watersheds with contrasting soil-landscape features were studied, for which the prediction methods were performed differently. A multiple linear stepwise regression model was performed with RK using digital terrain models (DTMs) and remote sensing images in order to choose the best auxiliary covariates. Different pedogenic factors and land uses control soil property distributions in each watershed, and soil properties often display contrasting scales of variability. Environmental...

Spatial variability of soil CO2 emission in a sugarcane area characterized by secondary information Scientia Agricola
Teixeira,Daniel De Bortoli; Bicalho,Elton da Silva; Panosso,Alan Rodrigo; Cerri,Carlos Eduardo Pellegrino; Pereira,Gener Tadeu; Scala Júnior,Newton La.
Soil CO2 emission (FCO2) is governed by the inherent properties of the soil, such as bulk density (BD). Mapping of FCO2 allows the evaluation and identification of areas with different accumulation potential of carbon. However, FCO2 mapping over larger areas is not feasible due to the period required for evaluation. This study aimed to assess the quality of FCO2 spatial estimates using values of BD as secondary information. FCO2 and BD were evaluated on a regular sampling grid of 60 m × 60 m comprising 141 points, which was established on a sugarcane area. Four scenarios were defined according to the proportion of the number of sampling points of FCO2 to those of BD. For these scenarios, 67 (F67), 87 (F87), 107 (F107) and 127 (F127) FCO2 sampling points...

SPATIALIZATION OF THE ANNUAL MAXIMUM DAILY RAINFALL IN SOUTHEASTERN BRAZIL REA
Batista,Marcelo L.; Coelho,Gilberto; Mello,Carlos R. de; Oliveira,Marcelo S. de.
ABSTRACT Extreme rainfall can lead to heavy damage and losses, such as landslides, floods and agricultural productivity as well as the loss of human and animal lives. To mitigate these losses, water resources management policies are needed, among other goals, to study and predict the frequency of such events in a given region to minimize their harmful effects. The present study investigated the Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) probability distribution applied to the annual maximum daily precipitation data from rainfall stations in the southeastern Brazil. A total of 1,921 rainfall stations were considered, among which the stations with at least 15 years of uninterrupted observations were selected. Subsequently, the stationarity and adherence were tested....

TEMPORAL DYNAMICS OF CLIMATOLOGICAL PARAMETERS AND HYDRIC BALANCE IN THE MANAGEMENT OF AGRICULTURAL CROPS REA
Filgueiras,Roberto; Oliveira,Vinicius M. R. de; Cunha,Fernando F. da; Mantovani,Everardo C..
ABSTRACT One of the main factors that determine the success of decision-making in the fields is the climatic factor. This way, the geostatistical techniques have been used to represent and understand the spatial or temporal dynamics of meteorological parameters. Therefore, the aim of this research was to represent temporally through thematic maps, the average daily behavior for meteorological variables and the hydric balance for the municipality of Patos de Minas - MG. The climatic data were acquired from the automatic station INMET from the years 1990 to 2015. Later, it was calculated the evapotranspiration and the hydric balance for different capacities of available water in the soil (CAW): 24 mm, 48 mm, 80 mm and 112 mm. The climate variables showed...

The use of Pedotransfer functions and the estimation of carbon stock in the Central Amazon region Scientia Agricola
Gomes,Andréa da Silva; Ferreira,Ana Carolina de Souza; Pinheiro,Érika Flávia Machado; Menezes,Michele Duarte de; Ceddia,Marcos Bacis.
ABSTRACT Computer models have been used to assess soil organic carbon (SOC) stock change. Commonly, models require to determine soil bulk density (Db), a variable that is often lacking in soil data bases. To partly overcome this problem, pedotransfer functions (PTFs) are developed to estimate Db from other easily available soil properties. However, only a few studies have determined the accuracy of these functions and quantified their effects on the final quality of the spatial variability maps. In this context, the objectives of this study were: i) to develop one PTF to estimate Db in soils of the Brazilian Central Amazon region; ii) to compare the performance of PTFs generated with three other models generally used to estimate Db in soils of the Amazon...

Uncertainties in the prediction of spatial variability of soil CO2 emissions and related properties Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Solo
Teixeira,Daniel De Bortoli; Bicalho,Elton da Silva; Panosso,Alan Rodrigo; Perillo,Luciano Ito; Iamaguti,Juliano Luciani; Pereira,Gener Tadeu; La Scala Jr,Newton.
The soil CO2 emission has high spatial variability because it depends strongly on soil properties. The purpose of this study was to (i) characterize the spatial variability of soil respiration and related properties, (ii) evaluate the accuracy of results of the ordinary kriging method and sequential Gaussian simulation, and (iii) evaluate the uncertainty in predicting the spatial variability of soil CO2 emission and other properties using sequential Gaussian simulations. The study was conducted in a sugarcane area, using a regular sampling grid with 141 points, where soil CO2 emission, soil temperature, air-filled pore space, soil organic matter and soil bulk density were evaluated. All variables showed spatial dependence structure. The soil CO2 emission...
